The old "Portillo" bus station that was located on the sea front was demolished in 2013 and Estepona's new Bus Station opened in July 2014 and is located next door to the Exhibtion and Congress Centre on Avenida del Litoral just beyond Carrefour hypermarket on the eastern link to the A7 coast road 1km east of town center. more>>
Railway
There is no railway in Estepona. The nearest is Fuengirola 40km east along the coast or San Roque and Algeciras 40km west.
5km east of the town, just beyond the entrance to Estepona Golf at Bahia Dorada, observant motorists before 2004 may have noticed a railway tunnel portal. This goes nowhere and belonged to the "Malaga and Gibraltar Railway Company" who were awarded the 1878 consession for a Malaga to Campamento Railway. Read about the Costa del Sol railway.
