Pueblo Lopez is a surprisingly picturesque little residential community between El Boquetillo neighbourhood and the town centre. This neighbourhood was built in the early 1960’s by an English builder who was determined not to succumb to the increasing tendency at that time to construct high rise buildings.

Fuengirola has some particularly interesting festivals: April: The International Fair : “La Feria de los Pueblos”. The RENFE train station in Fuengirola is located on Avenida Jesús Santos Rein, just one road away from the bus station. From here you can catch the Fuengirola to Malaga commuter (cercanías) trainline C-1 which takes 48 minutes to get to Malaga City, via Benalmádena, Torremolinos and Malaga Airport.

The history of Fuengirola dates back to Phoenician, Carthaginian, Roman and Arabic times. Historical reference was made of the town during the 2nd century B.C. Roman remains have been found which include sculptures, one of which is the well known so-called 'Venus of Fuengirola', which is now an exhibit in the History Museum - Museo de Historia.
Fuengirola has plenty to offer shoppers both in the old town and outside. In the old town centre, around the main square Plaza de la Constitucion, there are many designer clothes shops, interesting small boutiques. Choose from one of the many high street shops such as Zara, Benetton, Pull & Bear.
