Casa Consistorial

Casa Consistorial

The construction of the town square marked a significant departure from the original urban plan, transforming it into a true Renaissance city and centralising all political power in one location. The first construction dates from the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, but no remains of this original structure survive, as much of the plaza and the corregidores’ balcony were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. The devastated region rebuilt the balcony on the opposite side in 1949, as well as reconstructing the rest of the plaza. It is located in the Plaza de la Constitución.
