Hotels in Antequera

Calahonda

Not to be confused with Calahonda beach which is situated between Marbella and Fuengirola, Calahonda is a beautiful old fishing village on the Costa Tropical. Although it is considered to be a part of the Motril municipality, it is located on the very eastern boundary of the municipality, straddling the A-7 coastal road. The town has not been subject to large developments and therefore the coastal village has managed to preserve its’ traditional identity.

Rowing and Canoeing

By its very nature, rowing is an inland waterway sport and is immensely popular along the River Guadalquivir, especially in Córdoba and Sevilla, where major international competitions and training camps are often held. It is mainly practised on straight, wide, flat (calm, smooth) stretches of water, hence the popularity of the Guadalquivir.

Armuña de Almanzora - History

Some archeological sites have been unearthed that demonstrate former Roman presence in these lands. Later, in medieval times, the community developed the name it holds today; of Arab origin, it refers to a fertile garden. Sources confirm that by 1560, the town belonged to the Duke of Escalona.

The Pompidou Centre

Opened on 28 March 2015, the Pop-Up Pompidou is housed in El Cubo, a cuboid glass structure in Malaga port, and buildings next to it. It received 76 thousand visitors in the first three months. The 6000m2 centre has 80 works, with two or three annual exhibitions lasting 3-6 months during the next five years.

Joan Hunt

The founder of Cudeca, Joan Hunt, who died in 2021 at the age of 92, was one of the most inspirational pioneers in the field of palliative care in Southern Spain. She arrived in Málaga in 1984 with the idea of retiring with her husband, Fred, but unbeknown to her at that time, this would be the beginning of a new era for both Joan and the Costa del Sol.
