Granada´s slightly smaller size means that you can be more flexible when picking a holiday home - few city houses are likely to be a long walk from the centre, so it´s possible to pick a more suburban setting and still enjoy the town. Granada is one of the areas of Andalucia where one can most easily see the Moorish influence on architecture; the centre is constructed around the Alhambra palace, one of the finest Moorish buildings in Spain. Other buildings and streets in the city reflect this. It´s therefore a town full of small, twisting streets, perfect for meandering, and having one´s own private base to return to helps this. Granada maintains an oddly intimate atmosphere for a city, and lots of the townhouses available to rent feel more like country retreats, despite being in the heart of the city.
