Priego de Cordoba

Priego de Córdoba is a prosperous olive-farming town standing on a plateau, overlooking the rolling hills of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, and is famous for its Baroque churches, in which convoluted patterns are elegantly incised into the stone façades. It has around 22, 500 inhabitants.

Via Verde Olula del Río

This is a tarmac greenway which runs for just over a kilometre and a half to the town of Olula del Río. The route is accessible on foot, by bike and in a wheelchair. Sierra de las Estancias and Sierra de Los Filabres are highlights in terms of beautiful landscapes which can be seen from this greenway.

Bentarique

Bentarique is where a valuable Muslim treasure was found dating back to the fifteenth century, consisting of valuable pieces of metalwork and is on show in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. It has about 240 inhabitants. The origins of the village lie in the times of Roman domination, an era when baths were the main focus.

Alosno

Alosno is set in the heart of El Andevalo, 43km from Huelva. The district of Alosno covers an area of approximately 200,000km2 and consists of 4792 inhabitants spread between Tharsis and Alosno. It reaches up to El Cerro del Andevalo in the north, Gibraleon and Trigueros in the south, Puebla de Guzman to the west and Calañas to the east.

Alambique

Dating back to the early twentieth century, the Alambique was built by the Espadafor family and later became municipal property, now housing the Pinos Puente Youth Centre.

La Rabída

Seven kilometres south of Huelva city where the Tinto and Odiel rivers meet is an area known as La Rabida in which is located the 15th-century Franciscan Monasterio de Santa María de la Rábida. If you're interested in Christopher Columbus, this is one of three places to visit around Huelva. The other two are the nearby town of Palos de la Frontera.

English Language Radio

There are many English language radio stations in Andalucia, especially along the Costa del Sol and some inland areas where many English speaking residents have settled over the last few decades. A few of the pioneering English language stations are still going strong after and have long-term.

Los Gallardos

Los Gallardos is neatly situated in a valley, 8km from the sea and 5km from the mountains. It is 73km from Almeria city and has around 2,800 inhabitants. The town finds its origin in the beginning of the mining operations of the Sierra Almagrera in the early nineteenth century. The origin of the name is thought to have come from a nineteenth-century family, however, it has also been suggested that it originates from a Captain Gallardo.

Language schools

The pretty seaside town of Estepona, near Marbella, offers a variety of different language schools, catering for all levels from beginners to advanced. There are large schools, and some smaller privately-run schools which offer a more local and relaxed learning atmosphere.

Ermita Virgen de la Cabeza

The chapel is situated on Cerro de la Virgen de la Cabeza. To reach it, you have to climb about 500 metres. There are two chapels here — one older and one newer, built in 1992 to welcome more pilgrims.

Japanese style gardens in the Coto de la Serena create a tranquil atmosphere for a perfect round of relaxing golf. Pedro Moran designed the course, which is to be found between San Pedro del Alcantará and Estepona.

El Viso

El Viso is part of the Ruta de los Castillos, thanks to its links with Fortaleza Castillo de Madroñiz which received an award from the Asociación de Amigos de los Castillos.The town has about 2,500 inhabitants.
