Jimena de la Frontera - Casa de la Memoria de la Sauceda

This building in Jimena de la Frontera is part archive, part library and part museum used for researching, sharing and debating of information and matters on the Civil War in Spain, with a focus on what occurred in Andalusia, particularly in the Campo de Gibraltar. It is located on Calle Sevilla 5, just before the town hall. The building is identifiable by the flag of the Second Spanish Republic flying outside.

These aren't so much ways to get around, as ways to see the city, whether by horse-drawn carriage, open-top bus tour, or a boat trip on the river. A new, eco-friendly way to see the city is a Segway, a two-wheeled upright electric vehicle, with zero emissions. Especially useful in the centre, on traffic-free roads.

Peñónes de San Cristóbal Natural Monument

In the foothills of the Sierra Almijara on Granada's Costa Tropical is the seaside resort of Almuñécar, with a dramatic coastline of plunging cliff faces, secluded coves with beaches tucked away between steep cliffs and a smattering of jagged Peñónes (rocky outcrops) just off Almuñécar beach.

Paseo de Cristobal Colon

Back in Columbus' time the river here would be crowded with boats, nowadays the occasional tourist steamer chugs by or pedal boat. But it is still the most charming paseo which during the weekends is thronging with strolling lovers and Spanish families dressed in their Sunday best. The view across the river is quite beautiful with a row of typical Andaluz houses with wrought iron balconies.

Guadalhorce River Estuary Natural Area

A few kilometres south of Malaga is this 67ha area, which comprises the alluvial delta of the Gudalhorce river, a system of artificial ponds and scrubland. It attracts a huge variety of birds - over 200 species have been recorded here - and is the one of the most important breeding and migration sites in eastern Andalucía.

Chiclana de Segura

Pablo de Rojas moved to Granada in 1579, attracted by the city's rich art and cultural heritage. He studied with Rodrigo Moreno and established his workshop in an area where many artists were working for churches and convents surrounding the Alhambra.
