Golden Mile Beachside Districts - Río verde
This district comprises mainly established villas and includes the site of the Rio Verde Roman villa. There are plenty of bougainvillea climbing over Río Verde's high boundary walls, and large white villas on the front line.
The name is derived from the river that flows along the western boundary. Overlooking the river banks is the small Paseo de los Cuchis park ,which takes its name from the nickname of the owner of the La Chuchis - La Playa Fantástica chiringuito (beach bar-restaurant). The district is conveniently connected to Puerto Banús by a wooden footbridge. You can also follow the path along the river and cross under the coastal highway.
A new development is under construction in 2016 on the last remaining plot in the district. Nearby, slightly unnoticed and unloved, is the Plaza de Río Verde, a park that is private but open to the public and belongs to the Río Verde urbanisation. The iron railings look more like the protection expected at a London park.
Urb. Oasis de Banús comprise three blocks of modern front-line development with a communal swimming pool at the front.
Sea Soul beach club is open in the summer and sits on the front-line adjacent to the seafront promenade. Open to the public for dining, it is part of Hotel Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach.
Next to Sea Soul is a plot created following the demolition of Casa Honey. On the other side are white front-line developments featuring tiered balconies.
Las Villas de Río Verde is west of Corral Beach Hotel, with bougainvillea hanging over the woodencolonial-style verandas.
Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach is set among lush palm gardens and features outdoor pools with sun loungers, beach club, gym, spa and rooms with private balcony, private bathrooms and air-conditioning.
To the east of Hotel Iberostar Coral beach is the Coral Beach Suites and Villas aparthotel, and on the front-line is Besaya Beach Restaurant, which previously was Café del Mar and is open all year round.
Museo Ralli, with its contemporary art collections, sits proudly on the front corner with a tall marble obelisk and good access directly onto the Golden Mile.
