Bubión sits halfway between Capileira and Pampaneira in the Poqueira gorge, surrounded by magnificent views of the often, snow-capped Sierra Nevada peaks and the Alpujarras. Bubión is also a good base for walking and is on the GR7 long-distance footpath. It has about 360 inhabitants.

History

The earliest recorded data on Bubión was collected by Hernando de Jorquera and dates back to the time of the Goths, although the first organised colony was Roman and almost all of its inhabitants were involved in mining. More>

Iglesia Parroquial Virgen del Rosario

Gastronomy

The typical dishes of the village are the choto al aljillo (garlic stewed goat), puchero de hinojos (fennel stew), trucha al horno (roasted trout), choto al ajillo (stewed goat), potaje de garbanzos (chickpea stew) and asadura aliñada (liver). Sweet treats include arroz con leche (rice pudding), pestiños (honey pastries) and roscos fritos (doughnuts).
