El Puente Medieval o Romano

Although evidence of its origin only dates back to medieval times, the oldest bridge in Dúrcal is popularly known as the Roman bridge. The bridge is located close to the Camino Real (Royal Road) (GR-9067), which led up to the area of Las Fuentes, where the remains of a Roman villa have been found.

History of Estepona

In Estepona various tools have been found made from local flint or quartzite using methods attributed to the Neanderthal era. Since we know the now-extinct Neanderthals lived in Gorham's cave in Gibraltar it raises the possibility that 30,000 years ago they were the first human (or at least humans' relatives) inhabitants of Estepona. These tools have been found in the Corominas and at Arroyo Vaquero.

Puente Ferrocarril

In 1973, a new bridge was built, given the insecurity offered by the previous Puente de Hierro de Eiffel, due to the excessive weight of the trains loaded with ore. It was built according to more modern construction techniques, based on reinforced concrete.

New Tina's Bar opened during the tourist boom of the 1960s (formerly known as Sheila's Bar) and this small bar, still in the original building is popular with tourists. Offering all the usual bottled and draught beers, cocktails, alcopops and shots, Tina's attracts a younger crowd and is particularly busy over the weekends.

Nuestra Señora de la Paz Church

Built in 1580, the church contains several valuable and ancient images inside, including one of the Immaculate Conception attributed to the school of Alonso Cano.

Education Savings

Beginning with nursery, it is not hard to find municipally-subsidised care that might cost less than 100 euros per month - slightly more if your child stays for meals. Pre-school (Infantil) is now offered free of charge in most municipalities, and takes place on primary school campuses.

Murallas de Arjona

The walls of Arjona date from the Almohad period. They originally had about 22 towers, as well as too distinct additional stone towers, one of which was octagonal. The fortress or main fortified enclosure is located at one end of the hill’s plateau.

Estepona Mural - Paraiso Golf

Paraiso Golf (Golf Paradise) by Manuel León is located in Calle Terraza, 168 (extention of Calle Teraza in Mar y Sierra district). Manuel is an artist who prefers to work in large formats. He is in constant search for the balance between abstraction and figuration. This mural was included in the 'Inaugural International Mural Competition of Estepona - 2017'.
