There is no better way to see Málaga than from the Gibralfaro Castle Parador. Built on a hilltop, next to the Alcazaba fortress and overlooking the city, the port and especially the bullring.

Parador hotels in Andalucia

There are 16 parador hotels in Andalucia. Imagine spending the night in a Spanish castle, looking down from your perch on a hilltop. Or, how would you like to stay in an ancient monastery or a convent? Many such buildings are open to the public in the form of beautifully restored hotel facilities, thanks to a network of state-run Paradores.

Even if you've never stayed at one of these establishments, you will almost certainly have heard of the prestigious government-run national chain. Some Paradors are located in historic buildings such as castles, palaces and convents, while others are purpose-built hotels designed to open up fascinating – but remote – areas to tourism. You don’t need to stay in a Parador to enjoy the amazing views and unique settings; you can just see the magnificent interior by having lunch, a romantic dinner, or even just afternoon tea or coffee on the terrace.
