Club Lomas de Sancti Petri Golf

This modern course was designed by champion golfer Manuel Pinero, and is situated slightly inland between the Costa de la Luz coast and the Atlantic. It is close to the village of Chiclana and the Sancti Petri port complete with sailing boats. The greens and fairways are wide, and gently undulating. However, testing conditions are supplied from the water and sand hazards. The course is set among tropical gardens, numerous cork trees and fragrant pine forests.

This is considered one of the best 9-hole par-3 and 4 courses on the Costa del Sol due to its abundant, semi-tropical gardens and the landscaping that makes good use of natural contours. Designed with care by Craig Cooke and Bradley Smith, the course was opened in 2005 and has an attractive layout that weaves around lakes and ancient olive trees. The tees are kept immaculate and the slightly undulating fairways and greens are maintained to a very high standard indeed.

Club de Golf El Coto

Japanese style gardens in the Coto de la Serena create a tranquil atmosphere for a perfect round of relaxing golf. Pedro Moran designed the course, which is to be found between San Pedro del Alcantará and Estepona.

El Campanario Golf & Country Club

A 9-hole course designed by Manuel Piñero and opened in 2003. Blending in perfectly with the natural environment, each hole has its own characteristics with fairways surrounded by ancient olives and Mediterranean plants and various ornamental water features to challenge your game.

Although deceptive at the beginning among the wide, flat fairways, Atalya Rosner soon shows its teeth by rising into the foothills and winding inland towards Ronda. The return leg offers golfers a gentle wander down the fairways of the older course to the chalet style clubhouse.

Atalaya Old Golf Course

While the experts might find the challenge a little limited, the average club golfer will certainly find it quite enough to handle as the greens are sharply contoured and quick. Pleasant, flat parkland course with many bunkers, wide fairways and elevated greens.

Estepona Golf Course

In contrast with larger, more manicured courses, the natural appearance is maintained with wild flora and fauna still much in evidence just off the fairways. The signature hole is the third, a very long par-5 known as "The Ski Slope", though the difficulties lie more in club selection when assessing ground relief. Greens are of good quality, well-designed and interesting to play.

La Zagaleta golf - Los Barrancos

If you are invited to play this strictly private, 18-hole course, the second at La Zagaleta, accept immediately. Nestling in the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda and blending in perfectly with the natural environment, it was created by moving two million cubic metres of rock and earth and constructing a tunnel to reach the new clubhouse.

Nestling in the hills above Benahavis, La Zagaleta is an exclusive paradise and golfing playground. Set in 1,000 hectares of nature reserve, the complex has been developed with a heliport, equine centre and palatial clubhouse. The course was designed by Californian Bradford Benz, and the club remains strictly private for members and their guests.

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club

Los Arqueros Golf is an exciting course winding through two valleys that offer impressive views down to the coast. The challenging par 71 golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1991. The golf the course appeals to attacking players prepared to make bold shots. It is not a particularly long course, but sometimes tight with hazards constantly in play, which may lead to the unaccustomed player being overcautious.

Alcaidesa Heathland Golf Course

To complement the original links course, Heathland is another spectacular option for players at Alcaidesa. Designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 2007, it has wide open fairways and is reasonably flat all the way round, apart from the 11th which is laid out over differing levels.
