Motorbiking

If you ever use the main N340 Mediterranean highway on Sundays, you may have noticed the large groups of motorbikers powering past. Andalucia's year-round fine weather makes motorbiking popular at weekends.

Off-road BIKING

Andalucia is one giant off-road paradise and country bikers can feast themselves on terrain as testing or as comfortable as they choose. It can be a fascinating and rewarding way to experience more remote parts of the Andalusian countryside, which are, for whatever reason, inaccessible either by vehicle or on foot. Thousands of trails criss-cross the whole region, but detailed information about rights of way are difficult to find. Be prepared to explore.

SCENIC ROUTE

One of the most popular routes for motorbikers is the spectacular Ronda - San Pedro road, which snakes down the mountain to the coast, with a succession of hairpin bends. However you need to be very careful - while this is a challenging and exciting road with adrenalin rushes aplenty, offering spectacular views down the Mediterranean, it is also an accident blackspot.

Spanish Motorcycle Grand prix

The Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix takes place at the international circuit at Jerez, attracting hundreds of thousands of followers each May. For full information about the ´Circuito de Jerez´ click here. Known in Spanish as the Gran Premio BWIN España, the Spanish Motorcycle GP traditionally takes place on a Sunday at the end of April each year. (24 April 2016).

Also worth mentioning is the Spanish Championship Raids de Motociclismo held in Mijas.

Benalmadena has its own Concentración de Motos when thousands of motorcyclists converge on the town. It takes place around the end of April/beginning of May, and can be of great interest not just to motorbike fans. Warning: if you don't like noise, stay out of town this weekend!

For fans of motocross and cycling, you can also enjoy various activities in Andalucía, such as the competitions organised in Huelva during the Fiestas Colombinas, in Almería and at Alcalá de Guadaira and Osuna in Sevilla, with the participation of amateurs and professionals.

The other major motorcycle races are the Catalan Motorcycle GP, the Valencia Motorcycle GP, and the Aragon Motorcycle GP.
