Golf News 2022

Valderrama added to the LIV Golf with a tournament from 30th June to 2nd July 2023.

On 30th November 2022 the Saudi backed LIV Golf tour simultaneously announced three venues that will host tournaments on the LIV Golf League 2023. These were Real Club Valderrama (30 June-2 July), El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba, Mexico (24-26 February), Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore (28-30 April). The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide (21-23 April) was previously announced. It is expected the 2023 tour will be made of 14 tournaments. More >

Caroline Hedwall wins the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2022 in a gruelling playoff. The Swedish player has won the tournament that has closed the season on the Ladies European Tour after defeating the Swiss Morgane Metraux. Cayetana Fernández has shined in the second day of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España. The young spanish amateur never ceases to amaze everyone with a great performance that made her finish with a round of 65 strokes (-8). Fernandez has climbed to the top of the standings with a total of 135 strokes (-11), one ahead of Linn Grant, leader of the Race to Costa del Sol. Big words. The Irish Leona Maguire stands third with a total of 137 (-9). The english golfer, Cara Gainer, who leaded the first day finished with 138 strokes (-8), tied with the swiss Morgane Metraux, and the swedes, Maja Stark and Caroline Hedwall. More >

The English golfer Cara Gainer leads the standings with 66 strokes, seven under par, in the first day of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2022. The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, the most important women's professional tournament held in Spain on a regular basis, which in 2022 was held at the Alferini Golf near Villa Padierna. near Estepona between 24 and 27 November. Gainer stood out in a very warm day in the south of Spain, finishing first in the provisional leaderboard in the first day of the Spanish Open. This tournament closes the season of the European Women's Golf Tour at the Alferini course, located at Villa Padierna Complex, in the town of Benahavis, Málaga. More >

Adrian Otaegui (Spain) has won the Andalucia Masters 2022 with an astonishing 19 under par over the four-day tournament. On the final day he gained three strokes. Having birdies on 4th, 5th, 9th, a bogey on the 11th and then to the delight of the spectators a long birdie putt on the 18th. This secured him a six stroke lead and his fourth DP World Tour title. Angel Hidalgo 24 years scored a tournament record with a 63 stroke eight under par - Day Two

Angel Hidalgo 24 years who lay in 21st place overnight on Day One with one under par, was one of the early starters (08.40 hrs), scored a tournament record eight under par (eight birdies) with 63 strokes. This put him in the lead with nine under par at the tournament half -way point. Starting on the 10th he made a birdie on the 11th then a hatrick on the 16th, 17th and 18th. It was still mid-morning. Angel was growing in quiet confidence as the spectators were starting to realise what was happening. A small following grew on his second nine where he delighted them with four more birdies on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th. More >

David Horsey and four other golfers share lead on Day One

The perfect calm conditions ensured that by noon leader David Horsey, English golfer who has already won four tour events between 2010 and 2015 was leading with four under par by noon. However a double bogey on the seventh knocked him back but steady play and three more birdies meant he finished the first day at five under par along with four other golfers. More >

Angela Stanford named vice-captain of US 2023 Solheim Cup team

US team captain Stacy Lewis has selected Angela Stanford as her third vice-captain for the 2023 Solheim Cup.   Stanford, winner of the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship and a six-time member of the USA squad, joins Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis as vice-captains, and will work side-by-side with Lewis and the top 12 American golfers competing for the Solheim Cup. Aramco Team Series Golf - Ladies European Tour event

World number three Nelly Korda played an excellent final round of 67 (-5) to win the Individual title at the Aramco Team Series in La Reserva Sotogrande by three shots. The champion began the final day seven shots behind the overnight leader, her sister Jessica Korda, and dropped a shot on the second hole.

Incredibly the Olympic champion soon found her feet rolling in three birdies on holes seven through nine and again on holes 12 through 14, and again on 16.   Despite making a bogey at the last, Korda sealed victory with a total score of 13-under-par at La Reserva Club de Sotogrande.

Three players finished in a share of second place with Jessica Korda, France’s Pauline Roussin and Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino all on 10-under-par.

France’s Emma Grechi and Slovenia’s Pia Babnik finished in a tie for fifth at the end of day three on nine-under-par with USA’s Alison Lee, Dutch star Anne Van Dam, Belgium’s Manon De Roey and Sweden’s Linn Grant one shot further back.

Estrella Damm NA Andalucia Masters 2022

Last year in 2021 it was Matt Fitzpatrick who won brilliantly and added lustre to his trophy cabinet before the endorsement of his 2022 U.S. Open title at The Country Club in Brookline. The Englishman shared the first two rounds with Jon Rahm, his predecessor as winner at the U.S. Open, and Rafa Cabrera-Bello, champion of the last Spanish Open. Ladies European Tour at Villa Padierna

The Race to Costa del Sol, the official ranking of the Ladies European Tour, offers a bonus (funded by the Costa del Sol tourist board) of €250,000 to top first three seasons players. The venue is Alferini Golf, the most challenging of the three courses of Villa Padierna on November 24-27. The ranking began in Kenya with the first of 31 Ladies European Tour  to be played across 21 different countries in a record-breaking 2022 schedule. The prestigious tournament will be the finishing touch to the Race to Costa del Sol, which will see the most consistent player of the entire season crowned for the third year and will lift the trophy specially designed for the Race to Costa del Sol. Villa Padierna, will host the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2022

Alferini Golf, at Los Flamingos resort will open its doors at the end of November to the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, which will close the season of the Ladies European Tour and will crown for the third consecutive year not only the champion of the tournament but also the winner of the Race to Costa del Sol, the order of merit of the European Tour. This tournament, which has become the highlight of the women's season in Europe, has a dizzying record since it became the closing event of the Race to Costa del Sol. In the 2020 season, Denmark's Emily Kristine Pedersen won the double - tournament and Race to Costa del Sol - to cap a spectacular year. In 2021 the tournament was won by Carlota Ciganda, achieving the only tournament she had yet to win in Spain, and the order of merit went to Thailand's Atthaya Thitikul.
