The oldest evidenced occupation of the municipal area dates back to somewhere between 2000 and 2500 BC, and can be traced in the Cueva de Aro. The intricate interiors of the Alhambra are as instructive as they are exquisite. Under Islamic law, no depictions of living beings (people, plants or animals) are allowed, so instead the walls and ceilings are covered with symbolic, geometrical patterns, as well as the Nasrids´ motto.
Benahadux sits over the Andarax River and is home to many archaeological remains from the Copper Age. The town’s primary economic activity is the production and trade of straw, oranges and potatoes. It has about 4,360 inhabitants.
