Playa de los Lances Natural Area

Just west of Tarifa is this magnificent 3km-long beach, the Playa de los Lances, 226ha of which is protected. The fine white sands are backed by a low ridge of dunes and the marshlands of the Jara and Vega rivers. These rivers run parallel to the beach and have created two lagoons, the Jeli and Montellano.

Starlite Festival Marbella 2023

The Starlite Festival is a two month-long music and cultural event held in July / August at the Cantera de Nagüeles, in Marbella. It is now established as one of the important annual entertainment events in Spain. The stage is surrounded by 60 metre-high rock walls, which creates an interesting, intimate atmosphere, like a secret, hidden venue beneath the stars for the 2,200 guests.

Sierra de las Nieves National Park

The Sierra de las Nieves National Park is located in the hills behind Marbella and to the east of the Ronda-Marbella road as it winds up the mountain along hairpin bends. The park centres on Mount Torrecilla (1909m) and covers an area of 30km by 20km or 18,530 hectares. The Sierra de las Nieves, formerly a natural park, was declared a National Park in January 2021 and formalised in May 2021.

Marbella Mosque

This beautiful Arabian temple overlooks the golden mile just to the west of the city centre (towards San Pedro). It was the first Mosque constructed in Spain since the Christian re-conquest in the fifteenth century. It was built in 1981 by then Prince Salmán bin Abdulaziz in honour of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saúd of Saudi Arabia.

Iglesia de San Pablo

The church is one of the oldest in Úbeda and is believed to have been built since the Visigoth period. Its location in a central square and its proximity to the old Town Hall make it have a marked assembly character, since until the fifteenth century, the City Council and the nobles met there.

Conjunto Arqueológico (Tózar)

The archaeological complex consists of the Mozarabic Necropolis, three tenth-century silos, a prehistoric dolmen known as 'Pileta de la Zorra', a defensive system from the Spanish Civil War (1936) and one of the few remaining Mozarabic farmhouse settlements in Andalusia, dating from the ninth to twelfth centuries.

Francisco Rivera Ordoñez

Legend has it that Francisco Rivera Ordoñez was born to fight bulls. His father was the famous bullfighter Paquirri who died bullfighting in Pozoblanco, Córdoba in 1984 when he was caught by the horns of a bull named “Avispado” (from the Spanish for wasp, “avispa”).

Jerez Airport - Statistics

Jerez Airport is located 9 km northeast from the city. It is the only civil airport in Cadiz province.

Sierra de Alhamilla Natural Area

Only 15km northeast of Almeria city is this largely barren and rugged 8,500ha mountain range, designated a protected natural area in 1989. Riven by deep gullies, particularly on its southern slopes, it rises to 1,387m at its highest point of the Colativí peak.

Playa de Guadalmina

It lies just to the east of the Guadalmina River, and bounds the Guadalmina Urbanisation of Marbella it is close to the Hotel Guadalmina Golf and Spa Resort. If you fancy a cultural break from the sun and sea whilst you are there, you can visit the nearby Roman Baths: Las Bovedas. just behind its eastern end of the beach by Arroyo de Chopo.
