Buses to and from San Pedro de Alcantara

San Pedro does not have a bus station, but a bus lay-by located near the town centre on the Boulevard over the A-7 underpass. Services are operated from here to Algeciras, Benahavis, Cadiz, Cordoba, Estepona, Granada, La Linea, Málaga, Marbella (town centre and bus station), Ronda and Seville. For those staying to the west of San Pedro, this is the best place from which to take a bus to Ronda.

There is a Portillo bus company kiosk where you can buy tickets for all services. There are no facilities but there are several cafes and shops nearby.

Timetable (pdf) valid from 15-1-2024 for routes between: Malaga City (for Granada, Jaen, Cordoba), Malaga Airport, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella, San Pedro, Estepona, Ronda, La Linea and Algeciras (for Cadiz, Sevilla).

 

Stopping Bus from San Pedro to Puerto Banus and Marbella

L-79 is a half hour frequency stopping bus from Estepona  - Avenida Juan Carlos (just west of old town centre) to Marbella Bus station taking 1 hr 15 minutes. It travels along A-7 coast road to San Pedro, Puerto BanusMarbella town centre, La Cañada shopping centre and terminates at Marbella bus station.  A full list stops and intermediate times can be seen on our Estepona to Marbella L-79 page. Since March 2022 this bus no longer drives along Avenida España terminating at the Marina. 

Stopping Bus from San Pedro to Estepona

There is a half-hourly stopping bus which runs from Marbella to  Puerto Banus  San Pedro, and Estepona.

L-79 is a half hour frequency stopping bus to Estepona  - Avenida Juan Carlos (just west of old town centre) from  Marbella Bus station taking 1 hr 15 minutes.

Arriving in Estepona it stops oposite Macdonald's on Avenida Literal (old N-340 coast road) stopping outside Carafour and travels around Avenida Andalucia - old town ring road stopping at El Calvario Park then terminates on Avenida Juan Carlos oposite the new Town Hall. Since March 2022 this bus no longer drives along Avenida España terminating at the Marina.

Note: Inbound towards Estepona the L-79 will not pick up after Guadalmina. There is no alert to this on the bus stops. On the return the L-79 will not pick up from Estepona unless you are travelling into Marbella municipal district. (ie Guadalmina - San Pedro  - Puerto Banus - Marbella) On boarding you will be refused a ticket and directed by the driver to take the less frequent L-2 municipal bus instead.

Urban and local bus in San Pedro, Marbella

Local buses also operate on seven routes in Marbella plus a night bus. It costs €1,18 for a single journey and tickets are purchased from the driver on board the bus. Travelcards are also available priced at €1,20 and are sold already charged with €5 (€6,20 total). These cards can then be topped up with 5 to 500 euros in Marbella Bus Station, in the ticket office at San Pedro Alcántara or on all Servicio Urbano de Transporte buses.

A monthly card is also available priced at €36 per month for unlimited travel on Servicio de Transporte Urbano de Marbella buses. It is personalised with your name and a photograph and can be recharged in Marbella Bus Station or at San Pedro Alcántara ticket office.

A Transporte Gratuito card is available for all Marbella residents. Available at municipal district offices but not Town Hall in Plaza de los Naranjos.
