Punta Plata mountainside - Estepona districts

Although there are no formally defined administrative boundaries to Punta Plata district of Estepona, the mountainside area of Punta Plata occupies the inland section of the district north of the Avenida del Literal (former N-340) extending west towards the Arroyo de la Cala and bounded to the north by the A-7. The landscape consists of agricultural land, natural vegetation, and scattered residential properties
Residential areas
The district contains a limited number of residential properties dispersed throughout the area, consisting mainly of individual homes on residential and agricultural plots. Some of the older agricultural properties date from the 1970s, 1980s, and early 2000s.

New residential developments are planned for the district, including Tyrian Residences, which is scheduled for completion in late 2026. The development, built on the site of a former car park, will comprise 40 residences 40 exclusive apartments from 280–1.060 m² with large open glass curtained balconies. Facilities are planned to include 24-hour security, a spa and wellness centre, and year-round concierge and property management services. The area is historically linked to the production of Tyrian Purple, a dye that was highly valued in the ancient Mediterranean world.
Alongside the residential development, a wider urban regeneration project is taking place along Avenida Litoral on the eastern side of Estepona. The initiative includes the creation of approximately 20,000 square metres of public green space.

Estación de Autobuses de Estepona
Estepona Bus Station is the town's principal bus terminal. Located beside the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos on Avenida Litoral, it serves local, regional, national, and some international coach services. The station is primarily operated by the Avanza network and offers connections to destinations including Málaga, Marbella, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Algeciras, La Línea de la Concepción, Cádiz, Granada, Córdoba, Valencia, and Barcelona. Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Estepona
The Exhibition and Conference Center Estepona is a multi-purpose event venue located on Avenida Litoral near the bus station and with direct access to the A-7 coastal highway. The main entrance and parking are at the back of the building. More about Exhibition and Conference Center Estepona >
Huertos Urbanos de Estepona
Located behind the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos is Huertos Urbanos de Estepona ("From Figs to Pears" Urban Gardens). Operating for more than twelve years, the initiative offers allotment plots for individuals interested in growing fruit and vegetables, as well as the design and management of sustainable gardening projects for businesses and organisations.
Hotels
The only hotel-style accommodation within the mountainside section of Punta Plata is Hostal Puerta Almar, located on Avenida Litoral. The property offers en-suite accommodation with convenient access to the surrounding area. A wider selection of hotels, apartments, holiday rentals, and resort accommodation can be found in neighbouring districts and along the Estepona coastline.

The mountainside section of Punta Plata, particularly along Avenida Litoral, contains a variety of commercial businesses and services. These include home, kitchen, and garden furnishing retailers such as Mukaby Home & Décor, Todojardín, Mukaby Kitchen & Home, and Poppy 1900, together with Portofino, a specialist curtain and awning supplier.
Other businesses in the area include Autos Cozar, car mechanics, F. Márquez air-conditioning services, a pharmacy, Farmacía Ldo. D. Manuel Troyano Martínez, and Hiper Chino, a general retail store selling household goods, tools, arts and crafts materials, garden supplies, and seasonal products.
Carrefour operates a large supermarket within the district, while additional supermarkets are located on the coastal side of Avenida Litoral.
The area also includes a CEPSA petrol station with a Carrefour Express convenience store. Public parking is available off Avenida Litoral on Calle Teniente Serra. Nearby are public football and basketball facilities.
Restaurants
Dining options within the mountainside area of Punta Plata are limited. Establishments in the vicinity include King Sushi and McDonald's, both located near the junction of the A-7 and Avenida Litoral. There are also public bus services passing Punta Plata on the Avenida del Literal: L-79 Estepona - Marbella between Estepona town and Marbella town, La Cañada Shopping centre and Marbella Bus Station. There is also the municipal E-3 Microbus (only four services a day) to and from Estepona town.

Car Hire, Taxi and Transfers
In addition to hiring a car in Estepona, Malaga Airport, or Gibraltar Airport, Estepona taxis and several firms offer private transfers by minibus car or limousine to and from the airport and the surrounding areas. Bolt and Uber Apps also work within the district.
For those who want to enjoy more of the sights of Andalucía, the district is situated close to the A-7 coastal highway and within a short distance of the AP-7 toll road. This road is typically quieter, but there are toll booths at Manilva, San Pedro and Calahonda in both directions – tolls can be paid in cash, by credit card, or VIA-T (non-stopping) so visitors can easily access destinations on either side of Estepona. Along the coast to the west, these include Sotogrande, Gibraltar, Tarifa and the golden sand beaches of Costa de la Luz. Along the coast to the east, these include Marbella and Malaga. They can also explore the inland villages of Casares and Gaucin on the road to Ronda. Not forgetting the magnificent cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada.
